I'm Myriam, a Holistic Health Coach, Functional Nutrition Graduate and Herbal Medicine student. I've learned that the body is a gift to be treated with utmost love and care and that when given the right conditions, the body is able to heal itself and experience balance and vibrant wellness.
My journey into self-care and holistic health began in my teens as I struggled with myriad health issues that began in childhood, after many rounds of antibiotics, monthly hospital visits for high fevers and upper respiratory infections. A steady diet of highly processed and sugary foods left me feeling low energy, sick and toxic most of the time, before I even fully understood what toxicity meant! I also suffered from chronic skin and digestive issues and seemed to come down with every virus and flu that came along. At age 18, I underwent a week-long supervised fast in the Florida Keys and started learning about the process of illness and how to get well with nutrition and lifestyle. I experienced the many benefits of massage and taking regular saunas and learned about intestinal cleansing, something I continue to incorporate into my life today. I am inspired to learn as much as I can about the process of healing the body, mind & spirit through holistic methods.
After more than 40 years of self-study and practicing several disciplines of holistic wellness on myself, my 4 daughters and family, I completed my studies at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 2013.
After my graduation from IIN, I continued my studies with several mentors. I have completed Full Body Systems with Functional Nutritionist Andrea Nakayama of the Functional Nutrition Alliance and Holistic Nutrition Lab, a leader in the field of Functional Nutrition and am currently studying Herbal Medicine for Women with Aviva Romm, MD. I've taken many courses- including several with David Crow, reknowned herbalist as well as several courses in Ayurveda and Detox, I studied Women's Health & Hormones with Sara Gottfried, Harvard trained MD and am a Hormone Coach. Most recently, I completed a Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner Certification under the guidance of my mentor Andrea Nakayama, founder of the Functional Nutrition Alliance.
I consistently take cutting edge courses and trainings to stay up to date on the latest in nutrition and science and to better serve my clients. Now in my 50's, I feel stronger and healthier than in my 20's and long to share what I've learned about health and wellness with others!
An avid yogini, I began practicing yoga 25 years ago, after the birth of my second eldest daughter. I practice yoga and meditation to cultivate more love, joy and acceptance in my life. I completed a 200- hour yoga teacher certification under my teacher and mentor, Ian Darrah, a master teacher in Miami. I've also studied philosophy of yoga with Harvard scholar Douglas Brooks, PhD and participated in several yoga retreats and yoga workshops locally and abroad. I'm certified to teach Kundalini yoga to children and teens yoga and have taught pro bono to high school girls, the senior population and special needs groups. I created a Yoga Circle for Women workshop that launched in September 2016 @JustOM Yoga in South Miami. I believe yoga is for everyone and incorporate yoga and meditation into my health coaching programs.
My mission is to passionately inspire others to take control of their health and experience vibrant wellness of mind, body & spirit. I embrace my coaching practice and yoga teaching with a sense of reverence and deep gratitude.
